The assembly of fittings parts is practically finished. At the moment the electric wiring is completed. It is a special subject of our pride because wires - not only ones executed in style of past years, but also the plait - knits manually. Weaving certainly is not similarly to the factory one, but it is not an insulating tape or plastic. Assembly of the engine is started.

The engine has been assembled and established to the "stand". This word is so-called because it has been made almost in the second year of the workshop's existence (and in fact it has passed since that moment nine years). Every time we have to assembly all details "on the knee". But this time we shall precisely finish the stand. The engine was STARTED AT ONCE. It is always pleasure for the restorer. Tomorrow practically all the time the engine will work at the stand, and we shall keep up its temperature and other modes, find and eliminate discrepancies of assembly, and then we shall insert it into the car and go for a drive - to search mistakes in other units.

As well as it was planned all the day long on May, 26 the engine "rumbled" at the stand. To avoid overheat the electric fan has been established on the radiator of cooling. Periodically the engine was stopped for cooling. After each start-up an operating time before cooling prolonged. We use regular devices to keep up a temperature mode. To the evening of the first day of tests the engine worked on single revolutions absolutely steadily and in a normal temperature mode. And today it was set up into the car. We set up basket of coupling from modern UAZ because fixing apertures on the flywheel and modern basket are coincided. The test-drive and the story about it you can read on next week.

The assembly of the car is finished. And we are looking forward for trial runs. The first attempt to leave the shop was not succeed. During the assembly it was necessary to remove the lever of transmission and when we return it on its place the selector has risen in such manner that it switched two transmissions at once. It is necessary to be more attentive! There were, certainly, other small lacks, but today they are practically eliminated. Attentive survey, check - and we on the road. The road at Workshop is very bad. But not for this car!!! Every cloud has a silver lining - small range for tests of quality of assembly of the chassis is direct at workshop. The travel on this road has revealed all lacks at once. Something was eliminated directly on the road, something when we came back in the shop. Each stop was accompanied by the attack of curious and.... buyers. Each second passer-by wished to buy the car. We have been surprised! It appears that not only Mercedes is popular.
